EU nationals living in another Member State, aged 15-64

In 2021, there were more than 9 million Europeans aged 15-64 living in a Member State different from their country of origin; an increase of 59 % from 2006. Similarly,
the active population of such mobile Europeans has increased in terms of number; 65 % more than in 2006 – from 4.3 to 7.2 million. In comparison, looking at the active
population as a share of total population of mobile EU citizens aged 15-64, there has been a rather modest change over the same period. The active population increased
from 75.4 % to 78.2 % over the past 16 years. The inactive population decreased from 24.6 % in 2006 to 21.8 % in 2021. Employment and unemployment rates for the
mobile population have not changed much in that period either. Employment grew from 67.9 % to 71.2 %; unemployment fell from 10.0 % to 8.9 %.
