Status of languages in the EU

It is estimated that between 40 and 50 million Europeans speak a RML. The status of a language is defined by the Member State where it is spoken. Beside the state language status of the dominant language or languages, indigenous regional languages can have the status of a co-official language or be recognised as official languages.
