UK goods exports to EU and non-EU countries

The House of Commons Library’s statistical report shows that UK goods exports to the EU fell sharply after the end of the transition period and have not recovered to pre-Brexit levels (see Figure 3 below). While they exceeded GB£170 billion in 2017, 2018 and 2019, they have not managed to achieve that in any calendar year since and were significantly lower, at GB£153 billion, in 2023. Conversely, in 2023 the EU’s goods exports to the UK exceeded pre-Brexit levels (while imports from the UK remained below pre-Brexit levels).
