The most substantial drop in the UK share of EU total trade is observed during the first two years of implementation of the EU-UK TCA. Figure 5 illustrates that the UK share in EU total trade in goods amounted to 10.1 % in 2024, stagnating for four years at a similar level – at least 2 percentage points lower than before Brexit and COVID 19. The decline in the UK share in EU total trade in services over 2010-2023 was much less dramatic (on average 1 percentage point), with the most recent peak in 2018 (at 20.4 %).
