Figure 3 shows that in 2023 and 2024, the UK’s top 10 EU partners in trade in goods were Germany, the Netherlands, France, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Poland, Sweden and Czech Republic. Indeed, there has been no change in the ranking of the UK’s EU partners in trade in goods since the first year of the TCA’s implementation. Germany was both the largest EU importer of goods from, and largest exporter of goods to, the UK before Brexit. As Figure 3 shows, this has continued since the implementation of the TCA, with the exception of 2023, when the Netherlands surpassed Germany in terms of imports from the UK.
