The latest available figures on the treatment of municipal waste show that the highest proportion of municipal waste being recycled is 46% in Germany and the lowest 3% in Romania, while the EU average is 27%. With respect to landfilling, six countries send less than 3% of their municipal waste to landfills, while nine countries landfill more than 75% of their municipal waste.
