Agriculture, value added of GDP in % in African countries in 2013

There are strong differences among countries and regions in terms of economic
transformation. According to UNECA, the most rapid transformation occurred in
southern Africa and north Africa, where the share of agriculture in GDP declined
fastest. The oil exporting countries present a much higher industrial share of their GDP
than the oil importing countries (about twice as high),93 but this is mainly due to the
economic weight of the extractive industries.
