The EU’s ongoing
search for a tailored response to migration intensified significantly in
2015, when migration was at the centre of a series of high-level
meetings and conferences (see Figure 2). The EU institutions took a
number of internal measures to assist Member States most affected
by the refugee influx due to their geographical position (Greece and
Italy, in particular) and to look for a more efficient way to address
this challenge in a coordinated manner, with shared efforts.
