The EU has around 10.8 million farms covering 174 million hectares of agricultural land, while there are only 2.1 million farms in the USA with 370 million hectares of agricultural land. As a result, the average farm size is significantly smaller in the EU (16 hectares) than in the USA (175 hectares). Nonetheless, the total value of agricultural production is higher in the EU, at €410 billion compared to €347 billion in the USA.
