Tertiary education refers to categories five to eight of the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED). It is the level of education offered by universities, vocational universities, institutes of technology and other institutions that award academic degrees or higher professional certificates – bachelor, master or doctoral.
The map represents the percentage of people aged 30-34 with a level of education higher than category five.
One target of the Europe 2020 strategy is that by 2020 at least 40% of 30-34 year-olds should have completed tertiary education.
