The fifth priority of the Commission – ‘Promoting our European way of life’ – has covered a wide range of issues, from migration, asylum and internal security policies, to education, social integration and health. Over the legislature, the situation at EU borders has repeatedly called for a reform of the EU migration and asylum policy, an objective Council and Parliament finally reached on key legislative proposals. Significant progress has also been achieved in EU internal security policy, which calls for a greater focus on addressing cyber- and hybrid threats, building resilience, modernising law enforcement and bringing cooperation and information-sharing to a new level. Developments in health policy have included progress on the pharmaceutical package and other files. Education policy has seen further proposals aimed at learning mobility and higher education.
