Main supplier countries for fishery and aquaculture products in 2022 were Norway, China, Iceland, the United Kingdom (UK) and Ecuador. Salmon, by far the main species imported in the EU, accounted for 17 % of total EU imports in volume, with Norway and the UK as its main countries of origin. Imports of salmon originate almost exclusively from aquaculture (1.2 million tonnes), followed by imports of farmed warmwater shrimp (328 000 tonnes), mussels (114 000 tonnes) and freshwater catfish (94 000 tonnes).
