The outcome of the European elections in May was by far the hottest topic in June which prompted citizens to write to the European Parliament. Other citizens’ concerns included the trade agreement EU-US and the human rights situation in some non-EU countries.
The following topics are based on questions and comments from citizens writing to the European Parliament.
Towards a new European Parliament
After the elections, citizens requested inter alia the final turn-out in the elections compared with other years or the ensuing results per party and per country. On a more political level, citizens commented on the outcome of the elections. Some asked about what lies ahead for the new Parliament, showing particular interest in the election procedure regarding the President of the European Commission.
